The pioneering Renegade Rum Distillery, on Grenada’s north east coast, is on a quest to produce the finest cane rums in the world.  

The distillery is a brand new, fully automated facility that was constructed and commissioned in Grenada in 2020 to distil premium rum one terroir at a time. Each harvest is milled and distilled, and then matured, entirely on site, with pioneering traceability from field to barrel. 

The milling of cane is at a rate of 70 tons per day, and the capacity of the distillery – for combined Pot Still and bespoke Column Still distillations – is one million litres of alcohol per annum. It is a significant and industry-changing undertaking, and we need a proactive, collaborative Plant Electrician in our Maintenance Department to help oversee the distillery’s equipment, systems and daily operations to help us achieve our vision.

Plant Electrician Job Description/Responsibilities:

The Plant Electrician is responsible for installing, maintaining, testing and troubleshooting all electrical systems and equipment at The Distillery, to ensure ongoing enhancement of daily operations and our safety procedures. 

Systems include: Feeders and Branch circuits, Control systems such as VFD’s, PLC’s and other instrumentation and automation components.

Equipment includes: Pumps, Generators, Motors, and Lifts.

REQUIREMENTS:

• A valid Wireman’s License

• Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in electrical installation

• Ability to assess job needs, plan and develop material requirements

• Ability to multi-task and demonstrate and aptitude for other aspects of plant maintenance

• Ability to communicate with all levels of an organisation 

• Demonstrate the ability to work as a team as well as self-directed

• Excellent project management skills

• Demonstrate an awareness of industrial safety

PREFERRED BACKGROUND:

• Electrical Engineering or related degree
• Experience in rum distillation and the sugar milling industry
• Experience with biomass boilers and steam power electricity generation

OTHER ATTRIBUTES:

• Electrical Engineering or related degree
• Physical fitness – ability to stand, bend, climb and lift for a reasonable length of time
• Valid D-Class Drivers License will be an asset
